As per backroom post, comment with your character's name (past, present, or uh, future?) and I will tell you, for:

Havelock Vetinari: [ profile] oneman_onevote
Shelley Winters: [ profile] shelley_winters
Harth Fray: [ profile] dreamer_fray
Captain Jack Harkness: [ profile] othercaptjack
Nico Minoru: [ profile] grimsister

1) how their opinion of the named character has changed over time, or
2) why their does or does not get along/like/other with the named pup.

Please state which pup of mine as well as yours! Unless... you know, it's really obvious.

Havelock and Raven!

Havelock is... a little wary of Raven, first of all. It's a reflection on the Discworld gods, and his lack of faith in them, more than anything Raven's actually done, and also the fact that he's a suspicious bastard. He'll always have an eye open. But as things went on, he got kind of used to him being what he is (the way he acts has never really come up as a problem) and now he's kind of accepting that this is the way he is, and yes, he may occasionally turn him into things, but it'll usually be mostly harmless.

As far as Havelock likes anybody, he likes Raven, and respects his strngth and power, which is a seperate thing. It's...

Yeah. Havelock's emotions are difficult. :S

That's just not right.

It is terribly, terribly wrong, in fact.

Clearly, we must do something about it. :(!

I have been meaning to snag you for a thread sometime anyhow. Possibly OOM or mega-slowtime or something thanks to stupid timezones, but still. Any particular thoughts/desires on the subject?

From: [identity profile]

Let's see. We LARPed Havelock and Lan, which was hilarious... but might be kind of hard to thread. *Flails* Would River and Havelock be utterly breaky? Or Harth and River, since they technically know each other from W&Hplot? Either would be fun, I think. *grins*

*giggles* We could play Havelock and Lan as a really, really short thread of silent tags -- those are fun! -- or with someone else added to the mixture to be the talkative one, although that compounds the time zone issues. But I agree that ones who talk more would be more fun perhaps.

(Side note: whenever Jack is back in the bar, I feel a Jack-River could be entertaining. *cheerful* But that is for whenever.)

I... have no idea how River and Havelock would go! Although I doubt it'd be especially breaky. I have been wrong before, but I can't think of any particular triggers for her; she likes silent people pretty well usually, and the assassin thing she might disapprove of but it's not the same thing as being somebody else's human weapon. No idea if they'd like each other or not, but I feel it'd be fun to find out. *grin*

Harth and River could also be fun! She doesn't trust him an inch, I don't think. Maybe try for River-Havelock, and do Harth-River sometime after that if schedules allow again?

*grins* It would indeed be funny to try, at least. And hey, narration is a time-honoured Milliways form of mun conversation.

(...:D! We had a very brief River-Jack at one point, but more is teeeempting. I shall add it to my list! I really need him back. :S)

Let's do that, then! And I'm all for Harth and River as secondary possibility, since having him around people who don't trust him is half the fun. :D

I should be online fairly often this week and next - I'll keep an eye out for you! Failing that, want to aim for a vague day where you can be on earlyish and I can be on lateish?

Drat it, I meant to reply to this, and then I forgot to actually, y'know, type out that reply. GO ME.

Aaanyway, I will not be on earlyish tonight (Thursday), but any night this weekend ought to be good. For next week, Monday's out, but Tuesday and Wednesday are both possibilities.

Which is to say, um, me too! I'll keep an eye out. And, you know. Actually get on AIM instead of watching House until 2am and forgetting. >_>

HARTH AND MARY. Even if we've done this before. *giggling*

dreamer_fray: (Pretty when you cry)
From: [personal profile] dreamer_fray

Harth started out being vaguely amused by Mary, and curious as to how far he could prod her.

Then she went to ruttin' India because of something he said just to fuck with her head, and he was grudgingly impressed. And then because she'd impressed him, he was determined to prove himself, when she asked if he could garden. And thus began a beautiful friendship.

Well. Sort of. But the way I figure it is, Harth is possessive by nature. His obsession with Mel is very much along the lines that she is his sister, his nemesis - so when Mary proved herself more interesting and entertaining than a kid to fuck around with, she became his funny cranky little friend. Which isn't to say that he'll never ever hurt her (although I don't see it happening any time soon) - but it also means he'll be really displeased and possibly murderous if anyone else dares do so.

In a roundabout fashion, and as far as that's possible, with Harth, he considers her his friend.

Awww. (Run awaaaaay!)

Duo and Havelock!

Also, did we have any Jack-Coyote yet? (or, y'know, Jack/Coyote...) If not, WE SHOULD.

When I get him back in, I'll be all over that. :D

Anyway! Havelock respects Duo as another fightertype, while still being enough of a bastard to be amused every time Puck or Lilly or someone does something hugely embarrassing at him. He would, however, offer help in the form of killing stuff in a heartbeat if Duo needed it, because that's how he expresses himself. And conversely, he'd trust him if he needed help. And it's an extremely small group of people that he would.

That's a lie. He still cannot read Havelock properly, but given time, he'd probably figure it out. At any rate, he is suspicious. To hang around Puck this long, Havelock would have to share at least a little of his sense of humor.

Jack and Nancy.

Date: 2008-03-08 01:44 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile]
Ooo, lemme see. Jack and Nancy only met sort of tangentically, but sort of... affected each other. Obviously, Nancy reversed Jack's original fuckup, and Jack ponced around catching bombs with his tractor beam, making sure people, you know, lived to enjoy it.

So there's a definite subconscious impression there, although you'd have to remind him of what events you meant (especially nowadays) that he can think about. However - a good deal of his information was second-hand on this (I imagine from Rose.) First of all, I think he feels a lot of sympathy for her - we all know how open Jack is about sex, and he also knows, very deeply, how much suffering it can cause in prejudiced times and places, especially for women. But he respects her for carrying on, and would actually have been completely fine with her continuing to call Jamie her brother. You do what you have to do, and in the face of all that would have been against them both, it was a sensible thing to do. I mean, yeah, that wouldn't have sured people, but without that whole nanogene complication... yeah. He gets where she was coming from.

Which isn't to say he didn't get that she had to tell the truth eventually. And he respects her courage in that, even if he thinks it'd have been unwise under other circumstances.

Finally: He cracked the hell up on learning about the mid-Air Raid raiding dinner parties.
